This trip gives you perfect opportunity to go through 3 western provinces of unique cultures and colorful lifestyles of several ethnic groups.
Trip starts in Ulaanbaatar with next day flight to Khovd province. It is one of the western provinces known for its beautiful high valleys and numbers of lake. Trip continues towards Bayan-Ulgii province, the only province of Mongolia where Kazakh people live. On the way you will stop at Tsast Uul - a soaring, permanently snow-capped peak of 4193 km, and visit Kazakh-eagle hunting family. They train eagles, falcons’ hawks to collect marmots, small foxes and wolves and return to the ger, where the Kazakhs use them for food. They will proudly show you their birds.
After visiting eagle hunters we will drive to Achit Lake, the largest lake in Uvs province. This lake is home to flocks of geese, eagles and other bird life. After spending hours at the lake we drive to Kharkhiraa valley-delightful valley, surrounded by dense pine forests, has crystal clear river and carpeted with flowers. It is a perfect place to stay while and relax, or to go hiking. Then we will explore Uvs Lake - a gigantic inland Sea in the middle of side, creating the impression that you have indeed reached the sea. Ornithologists have documented over 200 species of birds around Uvs lake including cranes, geese and eagles, as well as Gulf which fly thousand miles from the southern coast of China to spend a brief summer in Mongolia. Brief city tour. Local Museum - geology exhibit, collections of stuffed wildlife, including an ibex with its distinctive corrugated antlers, ethnic costumes and artifacts, and a snow leopard pelt tacked up on the wall. One of the most interesting exhibits are the re-creation of the cave paintings at Tsenkheriin agui /Tsenkheryn cave/. Visit Zakhchin family. Overnight in tent.

Day 3. Driving to Khar Us Lake - 28kms from the Khovd city. Khar Us Lake - the second largest freshwater lake of Mongolia.
This is the perfect habitat for wild ducks, gooses, wood grouses, partridges and seagulls, including the rare Relict Gull and Herring Gull. Whole Day will be spent at the lake. We will be stopping where the river Khovd gol enters the lake - the best place to watch the Khar Us lake. Overnight in tent.

Day 4. Driving towards Ulgii city. Stopping at Tsast uul /120-130kms/ on the border of Khovd and Bayan-Ulgii provinces. Tsast Uul is a soaring, permanently snow-capped peak of 4193m. We visit the Kazakh eagle – hunting family, living in slightly larger and colorful gers. They train eagles, falcons hawks to collect marmots, small foxes and wolves and return to the ger, where they are used for food by the Kasaks. The Kazakhs will proudly show you their birds. Arriving in Ulgii - you can feel that you are in a Muslim- influenced Central Asian region, rather than in Mongolia. Visit local Museum, displaying the history and culture of Kazakhs. Overnight in local hotel.

Day 5. Driving to Achit nuur /70kms/ - the largest lake in Uvs province, located on the border of three western aimags. It offers stunning sunsets and sunrises and plenty of fish. The lake is home to flocks of geese, eagles and other bird life. One definite drawback is the absolute plethora of mosquitoes during the summer, they pour into every orifice, and we can hear them buzzing around the tent in the morning. In the afternoon drive to Kharkhiraa valley - delightful valley, surrounded by dense pine forests, has crystal clear river and carpeted with flowers. It is a perfect place to stay, while and relax, or to go hiking. Overnight in tent.

Day 6. Driving to Uvs nuur/180 kms/. On the way stopping at a Durvud family’s settlement. Uvs aimag was originally named after the main ethnic group, which inhabited the area. The Durvud, who still represent just under half of population of Uvs, speak their own dialect.
Arrive in Uvs nuur - a gigantic inland Sea in the middle of the desert. This lake is large enough to stay on one shore and not to see the other side, creating the impression that you have indeed reached the sea. There you will enjoy the beautiful scenery of nature and bird life. Ornithologists have documented over 200 species of birds around Uvs nuur, including cranes, geese and eagles, as well as Gulls which fly thousands of km from the southern coast of China to spend a brief summer in Mongolia. The best place to start looking the birdlife is where the rivers enter the lake, and on the island in the middle of the lake. Overnight in tent on the lake shore.

Day 7. Driving to the center of Uvs. Ulaangom city/80-90kms/. Brief tour in the city. Flying back to Ulaanbaatar. Overnight in hotel.

Day 8. City tour and evening cultural performance. Overnight in hotel.

Day 9. Transfer to Airport. Depart from Ulaanbaatar.
