Mongol Altai mountains – country’s largest and highest mountain range with glacier topped peaks over 3000 meters, crystal clean mountain rivers and glistening streams where inhabit world’s largest wild sheeps -argali, ibex, snow leopard, wolves, eagles and many other bird species.
The name Altai Tavan Bogd (Five Holy Peaks of Altai) was given to a cluster of 5 dramatic peaks that tower this extensive Mongol Altai mountain range. The climate is extreme with very little vegetation, giving the surrounding landscape a barren appearance. Trekking session leads us to the holy 5 peaks where the highest is Khuiten peak at 4374m. We trek through the snowy mountains, cross the longest glaciers of the country.
The official opening ceremony begins with a parade of the hunters on horseback with their eagles. The most elaborate clothing and accessories are rewarded with the highest points. Later in the day, the eagles are judged for their speed and agility. The second day of the competition is packed with action-eagles fly from the cliff’s edge to chase bait dragged by their human hunting partners, and the men demonstrate their courage in an ancient test of horsemanship.

Our Client's Testimonials: Mr. Stefan Max, Mr. Marcel Weber and Mrs. Susanne Nelskamp, Deutch friends

The whole trek on horseback was unforgettable. The whole lake might have been the most impressive and memorable sight. I enjoyed the whole trip immensely and will remember is for a long time. I also enjoyed the company of the guide, local guide, driver and cook very much.

We would have liked it better if the trek on horseback had been the grand final of the tour at the end, since it was the highlight. The four days of driving around were nice but sort of our climax. If when we come back to Mongolia we will gladly travel with them again.

Mr. Stefan Max, Mr. Marcel Weber and Mrs. Susanne Nelskamp, Deutch friends, travelled in the trip on 6th Aug – 4th Sep, 2014.
